The Effect of Cooperative Scripts on Students’ Speaking Ability in SMK N 2 Rantau Utara
Abstract
The Effectiveness of using Cooperative Script Method in Students’ Speaking Skill at the First Year of High Senior School in SMK N 2 Rantau Utara in the Academic year 2018/2019. English Education Program Teacher Training and Education Faculty. The objective of this study is to describe whether or not cooperative script method is effective in teaching speaking skill at the SMK N 2 Rantau Utara in the Academic year 2018/2019. The populations of this study are the SMK N 2 Rantau Utara in the Academic year 2018/2019. The number of the students are 98 students. In this research the researcher uses experimental and control research. She uses purposive sampling in taking the sample. The researcher takes 60 students of X-TKR1 and X-TKR2 classes as the sample of her research. The research result shows that teaching speaking using cooperative script method is effective. Since the result is proved by the normality test is higher than 0.05, they are 0.233 and 0.161. The t-test value which is 16,53 at the significant level 0.05. It means that there is significant different between post test and pre test because the value is lower than 0.05. Based on the value for n=30 and the significance level is 5%, the value of t-table is 2,045. The computation shows that t-value is lower than t-table that is (16,53 > 2,045). It means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. The mean of post test is 66,66. It can be seen that the students speaking skill belongs to good category. They have a good result on their speaking test. It can be concluded that the hypothesis which says “The use of Cooperative Script method is effective in Students’ Speaking Skill at the First Year of High Senior School in SMK N 2 Rantau Utara” is accepted.
