Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Berbasis Pendekatan Matematika Realistik untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah dan Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Siswa SMP Negeri 32 Medan
Abstract
The essential problem of this research is that the ability of problem solving and mathematical connections of students is still low, and mathematical instruction doesn’t emphasize the effort to make students capable to construct knowledge, as a consequence it is difficult for the students to mathematical connection and they are unable to solve problems. The aim of this study is to produce the the learning material that was developed based problem based learning model’s. This is a developmental research using a model Four-D. Subjects tested in this study were students of class VIII-4 for field trials I and after the materials were analyzed and revised then conducted field trials II in class VIII-3 SMP Negeri 32 Medan. The device developed in this study is lesson plans, teacher’s guide book, a student’s book, students’ activity sheets, and problem solving and mathematical connection test. Learning materials meet the validity criteria with a valid predicate before tested. At the trial one yet obtained an effective device for the first criterion, namely the effective achievement of mastery of problem solving ability and the ability to connect mathematical students have not been met, then proceed to test 2. The result from this research showed: 1) the developed instructional materials, namely: lesson plans, teacher’s guide book, a student’s book, students’ activity sheets, and problem solving and mathematical connection test satisfy the criteria of valid and effective. The effectiveness of the learning material inferred based on: (i) the percentage of achievement and problem-solving ability of students mathematical connection that is 88.89% of the 36 students who took the tests. (ii) Percentage of the duration of students’ activities during the instruction had reached the “ideal” duration for each category of activity, (iii) the response of students to the components and learning activities is positive. 2) the ability of problem solving and mathematical connection ability of students to use learning materials realistic mathematics is based on the problem has increased.
